Scribing

What is Scribing?

Scribing is an act of empathy.

Scribing is the visual communication of the spoken word.

It involves focused listening, summarising, visualising and drawing; resulting in a content rich visual artefact.

Scribing helps people engage with experiences at expos and conferences, improves their memory of the event and facilitates sharing of the experience. People often use scribing as a ‘prop’ to aid in the telling of stories.

Scribing is a powerful driver of social media. Photos of scribing are often among the top social media posts at major events.

Scribing at TEDxSydney 2013

“Gavin added a completely new dimension to TEDxDubai, making the talks accessible in one stunning and simple visual summary and therefore opening access of those ideas to an audience we wouldn’t normally reach. The work was all done in real time. His work made a huge positive difference to our social media throughout the event. It was a great collaboration!”
